Setup Shared Network Database

1. Install Mag-Filer Preferably on the local pc in Programs(x86)

If you have not yet imported from previous years or entered any data:

1. Go to the Utilities tab in the payer
2. Click “Select Database”
3. Click “Create New Database”
4. Save the new database to a network share that all users have read/write access. (We recommend you name the database magdataxxxx.mdb where xxxx represents the year like magdata2021.mdb)
5. For additional users choose “Select Different Database”
6. Navigate to the database you created on the network share.

1. To confirm a user is pointed to the correct database location click “Show Database Name”

If you different users have already been working on Local Copies and you want them to all be able to work on a consolidated database on a network share.

1. Launch Mag-Filer for one user who has data in Mag-Filer
2. Select “Open folder”
3. Select “Data files folder”

1. Copy MagaData(year).mdb

1. Place the copy of the MagData(year).mdb on a network share where all users have read/write access.
2. Click “Select Database”
3. Click “Select Different Database”
4. Navigate to the database you saved on the network Share

1. For additional users Click “Show Database Name” and make note of the local database location for use in the procedure below.
2. Repeat steps 6-8.
3. To confirm a user is pointed to the correct database location click “Show Database Name”

If you need to migrate data from other users to the shared database complete the steps above to make sure the user is on the shared database:

1. Go to the Utilities tab in the Payer window.
2. Select “Import”
3. Select “Import Previous Year’s Data”

1. Select the current year database the user had been working in based on step 9 from the previous procedure.

1. Select the top left checkbox to import all of the data from the local database.

1. Click Import.
2. Repeat for any other users who need their data migrated to the shared database.
